Swellendam is situated just off the N2, 240km from Cape Town, or 160km from Mossel Bay. Unless you are coming via Ashton, take the most picturesque ‘East’ entrance into Swellendam. Follow the directions below, or go to Google Maps.

From the N2 (Cape Town or Mossel Bay)

Take ‘East‘ entrance into Swellendam, down the hill, past the Drostdy Museum. After the stop sign, pass the sign which marks the Koornlands River, on your left. Over small bridge turn right, left and right again into Human Street, all within 30m of each other.

From Robertson/Ashton

Take the R60 from Robertson through Ashton, continue down the R60 direction Swellendam. Once you arrive in Swellendam, turn left onto Voortrek Street, drive 3.2km along main street (6 stops signs). Just after the famous NG white church (the Moederkerk, the one with a minaret on top) the main street splits. Take left fork for 30m and turn left up Human Street.

From the famous R62 (Prince Albert or Oudtshoorn)

Once you pass by Barrydale, look for the signs through the Tradouw Pass. Once through the pass, turn right towards Suurbraak, then through the village that takes you to the N2, then turn right. Travel 5 minutes and take Swellendam ‘East’ entrance (see above)

Well signposted with the name Augusta de Mist, the building is just visible through the trees. Following the signs brings you into the garden, where parking is secure and shaded.
